Everyone’s worst nightmare. This has the potential to ruin a great game and with simple steps you can ensure this does not happen to you
Fogging is caused by hot moist air becoming trapped and forming condensation on the inside of the glass. There are several ways to prevent this, and each method has some pros and cons.
Adequate ventilation.
· You want to keep air moving through your goggles by moving around. This can usually be enough to keep hot air pushed out of your goggles. Although this does not help if you are in the best defensive position and quietly waiting for someone to walk by.
Fans
· There are several goggles that have fans built into the goggles. These are great for continuously pushing air into circulating through the goggles. I have a pair of these that I use on hot wet days. These are a bit heavier and require batteries, but the pros far outweigh the cons.
· There are some fans that provide air via small tubes as well (ExFog). These appear to work well but are quite expensive to buy.
. Anti-fog coating
· Theis a chemical coating that you wipe on the inside of your goggles. They are mostly safe for use around the eyes but as always use a reputable brand. Another great staple for Airsofters. A quick wipe of these and it can prevent fog from building up. These are not long lasting in some cases and need to be reapplied throughout the day.
Mesh Goggles
· I don’t recommend these as they can cause BB’s to break apart. Some people swear by these.
With all these different ways to handle fogging above all Do Not Remove your goggles on the field. You cannot replace eyes, and they need to be protected. Fogging is annoying but having sight is more important. Investigate what works for you before you play. I have spent days at home wearing goggles, with the family looking at me like I am the weirdo, just so I can get a handle on this before I am on the field.
If you are fogging up you can leave the field to a safe zone and then remove you eye protection.
See what works for you even talk to other and find out what they are doing. It may work for you.
